Bringing a Frenchie puppy home: a practical preparation checklist
Preparing before collection day lets you spend more time getting to know your puppy. Start with a simple plan for the journey, a comfortable space at home, and clear information from the breeder.

Confirm the handover plan
Check the date, meeting arrangements, contact number and everything included in the handover. If travel is involved, confirm who is responsible for each part of the journey and request the final arrangements in writing.
Ask what food, routine and supplies the puppy currently uses. Make a list of documents to collect, including the purchase agreement, the records provided by the breeder and any written guarantee terms.
Prepare a quiet place at home
Choose a comfortable resting area and agree where the puppy will spend time during the first few days. Check for loose cables, small objects and household products that should be out of reach.
Decide who will handle daily tasks and how the household will keep a consistent routine. Ask your veterinarian which supplies and care arrangements are appropriate for the puppy you are bringing home.
- A suitable, secure travel arrangement
- A prepared resting space and washable bedding
- Food and bowls discussed with the breeder
- Cleaning supplies stored safely
- The breeder’s contact details and your veterinary appointment details
Arrange professional guidance early
Contact your chosen veterinary practice before arrival to arrange the first appointment and ask what records to bring. Read any inspection deadline in your purchase agreement so you can plan the appointment accordingly.
Discuss feeding, activity, vaccinations and other care questions with the veterinarian who will be looking after your puppy. General checklists cannot replace an individual care plan.
Leave room for a gentle introduction
Keep the first days manageable and allow time to learn the puppy’s routine. Ask the breeder how they suggest maintaining familiar routines during the transition and who to contact if you have questions.
Before choosing a puppy, tell us about your household and plans. We can discuss the puppy you are interested in, arrange a video visit, and explain the written steps for bringing them home from our Whitehorse, Yukon home breeding program.
