Questions to ask a Frenchie breeder before choosing a puppy
A beautiful photograph is a lovely beginning. Your next step is a conversation that helps you understand the puppy, the people raising them, and the commitments on both sides.

Start with the puppy you are actually considering
Ask which puppy is available today and request a recent video. A listing can change, so confirm availability, age, the current price in Canadian dollars, and what that price includes before making plans.
Ask how the puppy behaves during ordinary moments: meeting people, resting, playing and being handled. Share details about your household, schedule and other animals so the conversation can focus on a suitable match.
- Is this the puppy shown in the photos and video?
- What does a normal day look like for this puppy?
- What support can we contact you for after bringing puppy home?
Ask to meet the family and see the records
Arrange a live video visit and ask about the parent dogs for the specific puppy. Ask which records can be shared, whose name appears on each record, and which dog each result belongs to.
If health testing or a guarantee is mentioned, ask for the actual documentation and written terms. A general claim about testing is less useful than understanding what was checked and what the agreement covers. Take medical questions and records to your own veterinarian.
Read the agreement before paying a deposit
Ask for the deposit amount, how it applies to the purchase price, the refund conditions, and what happens if either side cannot proceed. Read the complete agreement before sending money.
Clarify the handover date, collection or delivery arrangements, any additional costs, and the documents and supplies provided. Keep a copy of the agreed terms and payment confirmation.
- What is included in the puppy price?
- Which payments are refundable, and under what conditions?
- Who arranges travel, and what will it cost?
- What happens if the planned handover date changes?
